This Attractive but robust day boat was originally designed as a beech boat with a Lug rig to work out of Clovelly Harbour. Its shallow draught and rounded bilge allowed the fishermen to get the best prices for their catches of herring as they were able to unload quickly and efficiently whilst larger vessells had to wait for the tide. The Picarooner is aptly names as it meand "Sea Robber" in Spanish. The Picarooner has been sucessfully adapted to a gaff sloop. and is an Ideal family day boat. The well rounded bilge makes for stiff sailing while the high topsides and bouyancy tanks give a sense of security. The watertight hatches on the tanks make for ideal storage and aditional seating. Built with the family in mind she is easily trailed and rigged the mast and spars fit neatly inside the boat saving money on moorings and storage A strongly built practical and seaworthy boat ready for more adventures !
